Autism and Vaccines
Today, we’re going to talk about Autism.  I’d venture the guess that most people in today’s society have heard of autism or have a basic understanding what it is, but this wasn’t always so.  Today however, due to social media and the hotly debated subject of vaccines, virtually everyone knows about or has heard of autism.
Incidence of autism was relatively rare (depending on how you look at it) before the 1990s with only 1 in every 2325 children born identified as being autistic.  But in the early 90s the incidence of autism suddenly exploded with 1 in 500 US children developing autism.  Today, 20 years later, 1 in 150 infants are born with some sort of brain development disorder.  That’s a 600% increase, and other countries are experiencing a similar problem.  Objectors claim that the raise in autism is only due to increased public awareness of autism, and that is why it is being diagnosed so frequently, but there’s one major flaw in this reasoning. Chiropractic care in Savannah GA
The hands-on nature of the chiropractic treatment is essentially what requires patients to visit the chiropractor a number of times. To be treated by a chiropractor, a patient needs to be in his or her office. In contrast, a course of treatment from medical doctors often involves a pre-established plan that is conducted at home (i.e. taking a course of antibiotics once a day for a couple of weeks). (more…)
Whiplash treatment in Savannah GA
We have treated many hundreds of whiplash injuries.  We are experts in whiplash treatment and have specialized equipment specifically for treating these injuries and rehabilitating the neck (cervical spine) to its original health and curvature.
The injury itself is non-specific, so it can mean something different in two different people. Â Typically, it involves an injury to either the muscles, tendons or discs, or a combination thereof. Â As there is a vast network of ligaments and muscles, an individual exam is necessary to determine the specific injury, the extend of the injury, and the correct course of treatment needed. (more…)
Is a referral needed to see a chiropractor
A referral is usually not needed to see a doctor of chiropractic (DC); however, your health plan may have specific referral requirements. You can contact your insurance company directly to find out if a referral is needed, or you can contact us and we will check your insurance benefits for you. Most plans allow you to just call and schedule an appointment with a Chiropractor, without a referral.
In fact, chiropractors are generally considered gateway physicians. This means that, although we are considered a specialist, referrals are generally not required. It also means that we can generally make any necessary referrals for imaging, other diagnostics, or to another type of practitioner, and those services will be covered by your insurance. Of course, there are exceptions, which we would be more than happy to check for you.
Though most insurance does not require a referral to see a chiropractor, many do require precertification for visits beyond a certain initial number of visits. This is also something we can take care of for you.
Car Accident Chiropractic Care
If you are in a car accident, you should always be checked for injuries right away. Injuries don’t always cause pain right away. In fact, sometimes it can be days, weeks, months, or even years before pain shows up from an injury. This is why insurance companies want to settle quickly after an accident, before you realize the full extent of your symptoms and injuries. These injuries may not even show up on x-ray. X-rays do not show soft tissue damage. So, just because a hospital took x-rays and told you they didn’t see any injuries, that does not mean the injuries are not there. (more…)
Colic – Should my child get adjusted?
Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. In the case of very young children, their muscles are not yet strong enough to properly stabilize their spine and thus injuries or subluxations can occur rather easily.
These injuries may not cause any pain at all, or they may cause many symptoms including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort. If the child is too young to tell you what is bothering them, they will just cry out endlessly. This behavior is called colic. (more…)
Fibromyalgia Treatment in Savannah GA
Fibromyalgia is often considered a “waste bucket” medical term, because it is a diagnosis that includes so many different symptoms, with little to no explanation as to the cause.
There is some debate as to what causes fibromyalgia, and it can be triggered by many different events, including: physical trauma (such as a car accident), psychological stress (such as PTSD), or surgery. Â In many cases, symptoms can come on gradually over time, making it hard to pinpoint any one event that may have caused the symptoms.
While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, chiropractic and exercise therapy can help with the common symptoms of fibromyalgia (more…)
